The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley - Epic Fantasy Novel for Teens & Adults - Perfect for Book Clubs, Gifts, and Fantasy Lovers

I first found this book in the school library as a kid (roughly 7th grade so around 1987-1988) and thought it was a good story. Years later in college i started to think about it and tracked it down ordering myself a copy and re-read it. Still a great story! I even wrote to the author at some point in late college due the growing anime movies and quality. I got a response but McKinley was a bit nasty about it and was then very much opposed to such a notion which i still think would be a great idea! Anywho, just got my 13yo step-daughter a copy with this cover (my favorite) and hope she enjoys it. Online says this is part of a series and i have read/own The Blue Sword also but that may have been written first and Hero and the Crown which seems odd and other books supposedly part of the series i saw don't seem to really intertwine so still have to look into that. But for this book, strong character development, fun fantasy story, and well written strong female main character.
